Czy powinnam się martwić?” Niezmiennie w komentarzach jedni piszą, że pomógł, inni, że skutki uboczne, jeszcze inni, że nigdy nie podaliby swojemu kochanemu dzieciątku psychotropów (i nieważne, czy to akurat neuroleptyk, albo stymulant). Jednego zawsze w tych dyskusjach brak: uzasadnienia, dlaczego właściwie lekarz zdecydował się na interwencję farmakologiczną, i co rodzina zamierza zrobić, żeby ten lek móc za jakiś czas odstawić.
W wersji nieco bardziej pesymistycznej zrozpaczony rodzic pyta: „Moje dziecko jest smutne, rozdrażnione, nie chce chodzić do szkoły. Jaki lek mógłby mu pomóc?” Szybki wywiad w komentarzach daje niezmienną odpowiedź: w szkole nauczyciele nie lubią, nie ma kolegów, uczniowie dokuczają, a materiał i warunki nauki nie są dostosowane do potrzeb i możliwości młodego człowieka. Nieraz myślę w takiej sytuacji: czy to dziecko powinno brać ten lek – czy szkoła? Kto tu jest chory?

Chciałbym powiedzieć o jednej rzeczy, o której lekarze zapominają wspomnieć: większość leków na problemy natury psychicznej, które dostają nasze dzieci, to leki objawowe1)Większość, ale nie wszystkie. Jeśli masz wątpliwości, czy lek działa na objawy, czy na źródło problemu – przeczytaj ulotkę dołączoną do opakowania bądź skonsultuj się z lekarzem lub farmaceutą. Najlepiej z mądrym, doświadczonym lekarzem.. Antydepresanty, neuroleptyki, stymulanty, nasenne, stabilizatory nastroju, przeciwbólowe – to wszystko substancje, które w ciężkiej sytuacji potrafią uratować człowiekowi życie lub sprawić, że jego egzystencja przestanie być piekłem nie do zniesienia. Jestem zdecydowanym zwolennikiem interwencji farmakologicznych – z doświadczenia wiem, że mądrze zastosowane pozwalają ograniczyć cierpienie.
Tyle, że to dopiero pierwsza połowa leczenia.
Antydepresanty nie wyleczą bowiem tego, że koledzy w szkole śmieją się i dokuczają. Neuroleptyki nie nauczą radzić sobie z przeciążającymi, przerażającymi emocjami. Stabilizatory nastroju nie dostarczą nowych strategii samoregulacji. Tabletki przeciwbólowe nie wyleczą infekcji. Żaden lek objawowy – choćby nie wiem, jak był skuteczny – pozwala jedynie zmniejszyć problem do rozmiarów, z którymi człowiek jest w stanie sobie poradzić. Antydepresanty pomogą wstać z łóżka i zająć się czymś satysfakcjonującym, lek przeciwbólowy pozwoli funkcjonować na tyle, żeby dotrzeć na zabieg, a stabilizatory nastroju pomogą opanować sytuację do czasu, aż terapia zacznie przynosić wymierne efekty. Neuroleptyki ograniczą ataki agresji na tyle, żeby nastoletni autysta nie był bezpośrednim zagrożeniem dla otoczenia i był w stanie pracować z tymi emocjami i stanami, które pchają go do rozpaczliwych czynów.
Zapisanie leku to jedynie połowa drogi. Dopiero ten drugi krok – choć zdecydowanie trudniejszy – może przynieść trwałą zmianę. Jeśli nie zastanowimy się nad przyczyną, jeśli nie spróbujemy jej zaradzić – lekami objawowymi wyłącznie zatuszujemy problem. A problemy zamiatane pod dywan – choć chwilowo znikają z pola widzenia – lubią wracać ze zdwojoną siłą. Siłą, której nawet najlepsze leki objawowe mogą nie podołać.

Niestety jeśli chcemy pomóc dzieciom musimy wyjść „poza ramy „,samemu szukać,dowiadywac się,czytac.Lekarze bywają różni,niestety z wielką lekkością podchodzą do tematu leków,czesto(nie zawsze)nie biorą odpowiedzialności za pacjenta.Rozumiem rodziców,ktorzy szukają pomocy,bo agresją i autoagresja bywają niszczące nie tylko dla dzieci ale tez dla rodziców.Mądry lekarz dobrze pokieruje,jesli CZASOWO trzeba wspomóc dziecko lekiem,to powinien to zrobić ALE poza tym wytłumaczyć,ze lek ma służyć jedynie temu żeby można było nauczyć dziecko tego jak sobie radzić z trudnymi emocjami.Jeszcze słowo do rodziców : trzeba szukać pomocy,walczyc o dziecko i zawsze najpierw wykorzystać wszystkie inne rozwiązania zanim poda się leki.
Rodzice słusznie robią, że szukają pomocy – tyle, że ta pomoc jest na przerażająco, żałośnie niskim poziomie.
