Już po konferencji w Lesznie. Biorąc pod uwagę poprzeczkę, którą ustawiła ostatnia konferencja we Wrocławiu sądziłem, że nieprędko coś mnie zaskoczy.
W pięciu słowach: To nie konferencja, to petarda.
Jak na naprawdę solidną konferencję naukową przystało – przez dwa dni była mowa wyłącznie o tym, co w przypadku autyzmu działa na korzyść, a co na niekorzyść – i dlaczego tak jest. Nie było żadnych cudownych terapii, żadnych obietnic nagłej poprawy. Były za to mądre słowa o tym, jak pomagać i jak nie szkodzić. Była mowa o tym, jak odróżnić naukę od bredni*. W trakcie prezentacji Ewy (Fakty i mity wokół autyzmu) byłem pewien, że przynajmniej kilkanaście osób na sali doznało albo olśnienia, albo apopleksji. Właściwie cała konferencja była oczyszczaniem autyzmu ze stereotypów, mitów, uprzedzeń, błędnych przekonań oraz masy sposobów „leczenia”, które byłyby śmieszne, gdyby nie były straszne. Było ogromne skupienie na człowieku – na tym, że poszanowanie jego godności i autonomii jest ważniejsze, niż jakiekolwiek wskaźniki sukcesu terapeutycznego.
I był czas, żeby na temat tego, co pomaga, a co szkodzi, wypowiedzieli się sami zainteresowani.
Po większości konferencji mam głowę pełną pomysłów, inspiracji, książek do przeczytania. Po tej mam w głowie jakby mniej – bo zniknęło wiele wątpliwości, wiele białych plam i wiele obaw. Po tej konferencji jestem już pewien, że są na świecie ludzie, którzy chcą nas bronić. Ludzie, którzy widzą w nas drugiego człowieka – a nie listę deficytów do naprawienia za wszelką cenę
PS. W trakcie wykładu „Fakty i mity” w pewnym momencie odwróciłem się i spojrzałem na salę (a siedziałem w jednym z pierwszych rzędów). Nie było widać twarzy ludzi… było widać las rąk i telefonów robiących zdjęcia. Każdego jednego slajdu. Niech to wystarczy za recenzję.
